This letter aims to bring to light the big fake, falsify and theft of the Greek history and civilization, by the communist Slavs and in succession by the pseudo -state of the Slavs of Skopje, who demonstrate there state as Democracy of Macedonian.......

As it is well know to every educated Man the Macedonians were Greek.

The unexpected decision of George Bush to recognise Vardaska (FYROM) as the Republic of Macedonia, thus accepting a falsification of history and the misappropriation of the name of the Greeks of Macedonia, has violated the international legality and morality and has grately disappointed the Executive Board of the Institute of Inter-Balkan Relations and its members. For Greeks, the name Macedonia constitutes a precious part of our cultural heritage and is a vehicle of three millennia of Greek history.

Those of us who feel that the USA is our big friend felt it incumbent on us to express our outrage at the insult against our homeland which was a faithfull ally of the United States in the First and Second World Wars and throughout the Cold War period.

Dardania or Vardaska that is Skopje, which U.S.A arbitarily and contrary to the law have recognised as the “Republic of Macedonia” has a population of approximately 2,000,000 people an comprises over twenty minorities amongst which are :
a) Albanians (800,000),
b) Bulgarian Slavs (600,000),
c) Greeks (Vlachs and Sarakatsanoi 200,000),
d) Turks (200,000) and Serbs, Gypsies, Torlacs and other smaller minorities.

In the 24 September 1991 referendum on the fate of their country, when the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was under dissolution, 17% voted for unification with Serbia, 8% voted for unification with Albania, 8% for unification with Bulgaria, 11% for unification with Greece, while the remaining 56% comprising other minorities did not vote.

Despite this, the European Union intervened, indeed without having jurisdiction in these matters, according to the Treaty of Rome, and with the support of the United States recognised Dardania or Vardasca as an independent state, although it lacked the legal qualifications according to the international law ,necessary for the establishment of a state. FYROM was admitted into the United Nations and recognised by the United States not as FYROM but with its constitutional name as Republic of Macedonia.

According to the international common law (as codified in the UN Charter), the internal law (constitution) of a State is invalid for the international community when it infringes upon the legal rights of another country, in this case Greece. [see the international court cases, zones, Greco-Bulgaria Community, Alabama claim,Polis National,Massey etc.] For the eighteen million Greeks who live all over the world and chiefly for the 2,500,000 Greeks who live in Greek Macedonia, the name is Greek.

The Greeks of Macedonia live in an area that borders on the multiethnic state of Skopje , whose history was faksified by a clique of communist Slavs representing not even one hundred thousand people. Aided by Greece’s enemies, they used deceit and propaganda and now demand the name “Macedonia”. If the international community accedes to this, a powder keg will have been placed in the Balkans which will become a permanent source of turbulence in the area, instead of fostering the peace and security which should prevail in this sensitive region.

Finally, our country, Greece, was established by Ionians, Achaeans, Actolians, Dorians Macedonians, Thessalians,Cretans and others. The name “Macedonia” has been in use for three thousand years and it belongs to Greece. It constitutes a legal heritage and the vehicle of an exclusively Greek civilisation. It was usurped by the Slavs of Skopje who appeared in this region in cerca AD 600 and it must be protected by Greece and the International Community which maintains that relations between states must be guided by International Legality. As such, it is imperative that the International Community and, indeed, the United States (which is the leading nation in upholding international legality and the principles of possessio longio temporis and ex turpi causa non oritur action) uphold this principle. If it is not upheld, our country will be forced to turn to the International Court of Justice in the Hague as legality is on our side. Skopje base their demands on deceit and propaganda which are condemned by the International Common Law, the general principles of legality , the provisions of the Vienna Convention of 1969 and the treaty of UNESCO and United Nations.

Tito, under the guidance of Stalin and with clear expansionist aims, named southern Yugoslavia ‘Macedonia’ which until that time had been called “Vardaska”. This was confirmed by Edward R. Stettinius, Jr., the US Secretary of State, in his memorandum to US embassies in 1944 in which he stated that the State Department noted with particular concern the propaganda and the statements regarding an independent Macedonia coming from Bulgaria and Yugoslavia (Tito), which aimed to threaten Greek territories. The government of the United States, he stated, regarded the possibility of the creation of a Macedonian nation or country as unjustified demagoguery as it did not represent either a national or political reality, but only aimed to revive aggression against Greece.

In conclusion, we regard the decision of George Bush, the product of poor advice as it is unreasonable, insulting toward Greece, and a factor which will disturb relations in the Balkans. As such, we, the Executive Board of the Institute of Inter-Balkan Relations, which is recognised by the United Nations as a Special Councellor of ECOSOC, and its thousands of members from all over the Balkan countries, having bonds to the United States, request that you can chance this decision and support the Greek position or, with all candour, the eighteen million Greeks around the world will be most grievously disappointed and in this world where chaos and terrorism are tending to prevail, it will most seriously harm relations between our two countries.

Yours Sincerely,

The President of the Executive Board

Dr. Thalis Mylonas
